International Geological Forum
GEOSCIENCE & EXPLORATION CENTRAL ASIA
April 2-3, 2026
Kazakhstan, Astana, Palace of Independence
«Developing geological exploration remains a key task. Comprehensive airborne geophysical surveys conducted in the country are completely outdated.
It is necessary to create modern maps of our subsoil using digital tools. This will allow us to assess the potential of our deposits at a qualitatively new level. International expertise can also be involved in this work. Successful geological exploration is impossible without a solid scientific foundation.»
Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev
About the forum
The main areas of the forum's activities
The International Geological Forum GEOSCIENCE & EXPLORATION CENTRAL ASIA brings together specialists in geological exploration, subsoil use, and mineral resources. The forum aims to develop international cooperation and exchange experiences in the use of digital technologies. The forum also presents scientific research and an exhibition of achievements in the field of geology.
INTRODUCTION
Geology is more than just the study of rocks and fossils. It is a profound understanding of the Earth's nature, its history, processes, and resources. It unites people from different countries, professions, and generations in their quest to carefully understand, use, and preserve our planet. In his address to the people of Kazakhstan, Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev identified the development of geological exploration as a key task requiring the exploration of Kazakhstan's subsoil using new technologies and scientific approaches. Achieving this goal is impossible without the implementation of international experience, technology transfer, and investment.
PHILOSOPHY OF THE FORUM
Central Asia has long been a region of advanced geological knowledge and unique technologies. Here, in the heart of the continent, ore has been mined and processed since ancient times, laying the foundations of metallurgy. In the 20th century, the region became an important part of the global oil map, experiencing the hydrocarbon boom. Today, in the 21st century, humanity is entering a new geological era—an era of water and sustainability, where hydroresource research, climate change, and the careful management of natural resources are becoming key. The forum bridges the past, present, and future of geological science, emphasizing the continuity of knowledge and the importance of integrating traditional expertise with modern technologies for a sustainable future for the entire Eurasian region.
THE FUTURE OF THE FORUM
The forum is planned as a regular event, held once every two years, with rotation among key geological regions of Kazakhstan.
This model will allow:
  • Stimulate the development of ecotourism and geoparks.
  • To increase the interest of young people in geological professions.
  • Strengthen Kazakhstan's integration into the global geoscientific community.
OBJECTIVES OF THE FORUM
  • Demonstration of the region's geological potential and current areas of geological exploration
  • Formation of an expert and partner community in the field of subsoil use and geosciences
  • Promoting the development of geoanalytics and digitalization of subsoil use
  • Strengthening the human resources and educational potential of the industry
  • Creating a foundation for cross-border initiatives, memoranda and joint research programs
KEY ELEMENTS OF THE FORUM PROGRAM
  • Two-day business program
More than 10 thematic sessions, held in parallel and sequential formats, covering a wide range of topics: mineral resources, digital geology, sustainable subsoil use, critical metals, cross-border research, ESG and much more
  • Plenary session
    ● On the second day of the forum, the main plenary session will be held with the participation of the leadership of the Republic of Kazakhstan, ministers of the participating countries, as well as representatives of international geological organizations and investors.
    ● The main focus is on the strategic vision for the development of the region's geological sector.
  • Award ceremony
A ceremony marking Geologist's Day will present awards to the best industry specialists, young scientists, and teams who have contributed to the development of geological science and practice in Central Asia.
  • Exhibition of geotechnologies and equipment (for 2 days)
Demonstration of cutting-edge solutions in the fields of:
    ● Geophysics and cartography
    ● Drilling and analytical technologies
    ● Digitalization of exploration processes
    ● Ecological and geological systems
  • Competition of scientific and technological projects among young geologists
Presentation of stands and pitching of projects
  • Geological exposition
In line with the Forum's philosophy – from minerals and ores to groundwater detection technologies.
